SUSTAINABILITY POLICY
COMMITMENTS
Domus Jaya began to establish momentum for implementation sustainable palm oil policy, balancing between environmental conservation and social responsibility to help the welfare of local communities in particular. This is partly the responsibility of the company to all its stakeholders. On the other hand, for implementing concept of social sustainability to produce palm oil, company must be able to protect the rights of the workers, applying responsible practices in using natural and biological resources, exclude conversion of areas with high conservation value and minimize greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions to improve the company's economy.
This is our first step to engage in sustainability policy of palm oil, starting from taking an active role in the palm oil supply chain, 100% mapping (based on geographical location) of our supplier's plantation resources and establishing traceable palm oil supply chains and derivatives for all our traded products locally or internationally, and which includes the following principles:
FOREST & BIODIVERSITY PRESERVATION
-
Apply Criteria 5.2 and 7.3 on RSPO for protection of high conservation value (HCV) areas, and protection of high carbon (HCS) areas as defined by the High Carbon Stock Approach Steering Group.
-
Maintaining the existing trees around the factory, and we have also built green open space by planting trees almost 50% of the open area in our factory an effort to preserve the water source.
REDUCTION OF GHG EMISSIONS
-
Protection of peat soil areas regardless of depth and apply best management practices to existing operations planted on peat.
-
No burning of land
-
Use of the RSPO palm oil supply chain on process feedstocks
LABOUR PROTECTIONS, HUMAN RIGHTS AND FREE PRIOR & INFORMED CONSENT (FPIC)
-
Protection of workers' rights
-
Prohibition of forced and child labor
-
Protection of workers from employee harassment and discrimination
-
Publicly and openly inform the community about land use plans and projects to be implemented including the reasons and consequences so that permits can be obtained from the government and community in accordance with the RSPO criteria 7.5 and 7.6.
LEGAL COMPLIANCE
We always follow the rules adopted by local and national governments for good stability between corporate stakeholders and government .
TRACEABILITY
We will always try to traceability our supplier factories and map our supply to the palm oil plantation level.
IMPLEMENTATION & TRANPARENCY
-
Implementation of supplier activities and related stakeholders to achieve goals and targets must be initiated for implementation to move forward 100%.
-
Our implementation report on sustainability and progress can be seen in the future with RSPO ACOP which we will publish at least once a year.
RSPO
-
We will constantly increase the use of palm oil raw materials with the RSPO supply chain in our factory to maintain and fulfill our customer service.
-
We will also promote palm oil and its derivatives as our products with RSPO certified raw material suppliers.
OTHER ACTIONS
Domus Jaya will be in full to play an active role, and superintend all sustainability activities along with other stakeholders. We also verify compliance with the 3rd party ( supplier of raw material ) for following our sustainability systems.
